Ballgowns are the “fairy tale” dress, with a fitted bodice that flares at the waist with a very full skirt. You can always remove some of the crinoline (stuff that makes it more poofy) from underneath the dress if you want to take out some of the volume. The Ballgown is a grand style, but not only is it ideal for big venues such as ballrooms and cathedrals, ballgowns are becoming popular in any setting!
Depending on the fabrics used, some ballgowns can be incredibly light, making them practical for garden and outdoor weddings. The volume of the dress can always be decreased when the crinoline is removed and this can even make the dress beach worthy!
