Off-the-Rack vs. Made-to-Order: Why Same-Day Bridal Is the Smarter Choice

What to Wear (and Bring) to Your Bridal Appointment

You booked the appointment. The countdown is on. And now you’re staring at your closet wondering… what do I even wear to try on wedding dresses?

Don’t overthink it—but a little prep goes a long way toward making your appointment smooth, comfortable, and fun. Here’s our stylist-approved checklist so you can walk in relaxed and focus on the best part: finding the dress that feels like YOU.

What to Wear

Undergarments that work with gowns. This is the big one. Wear nude, seamless underwear and a strapless or convertible bra—wedding gowns come in all sorts of necklines and backs, and bulky or visible undergarments make it harder to see the true look. If you plan to wear shapewear on your wedding day, bring your favorite pair along so you can see how gowns will really sit.

Easy-to-remove clothing. You’ll be changing in and out of gowns several times. A simple dress, or a top and bottom you can slip off quickly, beats a complicated jumpsuit or anything that pulls over your head and messes up your hair.

Light, fresh makeup. You don’t need a full glam session—in fact, heavy makeup can rub off on light fabrics. A natural look photographs beautifully and keeps those sample gowns pristine for the next bride.

Hair you can see your face in. Pull it back or keep it simple so you can picture different necklines and veils without distraction. Some brides even bring a hair tie to test updo looks in the mirror.

What to Bring

Shoes with your wedding-day heel height. This matters more than you’d think—heel height changes the entire line of a gown and helps you judge length. No need for the actual wedding shoes; just something with a similar height.

Inspiration photos. Screenshots, Pinterest boards, saved Instagram posts—anything that captures the vibe you’re drawn to. It gives your stylist an instant read on your taste (and helps if you’re nervous about putting it into words).

Your venue details. If you’ve booked your venue, mention it! A beach ceremony, a ballroom, an industrial-chic downtown space—each guides the silhouette and fabric that’ll work best, so your stylist can pull gowns that suit your setting.

A clear budget. Knowing your range keeps the experience joyful and pressure-free. Good news: our gowns run from $799–$1,800, with some sale options as low as $499, so there’s beautiful at every price point.

An open mind. Truly the most important thing on this list. Some of our favorite “yes” moments happen when a bride tries on something she never would’ve picked—and falls completely in love. Trust your stylist to surprise you.

Who (and How Many) to Bring

Keep your group small and supportive—we welcome up to four guests. The brides who have the best appointments bring just their most encouraging hype people, not a crowd of competing opinions. Choose the two, three, or four who’ll cheer you on and help you trust your gut.

A Little Mindset Prep

Here’s the secret no checklist can give you: come ready to feel, not just to shop. Trying on gowns can be surprisingly emotional—in the best way. Your stylist’s whole job is to hype you up and help you find the dress that makes you feel incredible. Let yourself enjoy it.

And because we’re an off-the-rack boutique, there’s no months-long wait hanging over your head. Find the one, and you can take it home the same day. Walk in nervous, walk out confident.
